Applied Arts Magazine - Bikini Season Woes
Recognition: Applied Arts magazine 2016 student award
Illustration, conceptual art
To create an illustration for the 2016 Applied Arts Magazine Student Award Competition. It should reflect the Applied Arts Magazine's brand image, and communicate a story relatable to the readers.
An illustration targeting body image. The round, organic, and awkwardly angled shapes give off a goofy and playful personality. Yet, the word, "FAT", which is often used in shaming one's body image creates a contrast to this warm personality the image portrays. I felt the contrast was an important key to making the message more evident in the piece.
